Every Xiamen sailing to Kinmen leaves from Wutong ferry terminal on the northeast shore of Xiamen island, near Gaoqi airport. It is not the downtown passenger port, and not the Gulangyu jetty. Arriving at the wrong one is the single most expensive mistake on this route, because the boats run to the minute.

The 90 minutes is not padding. This is an international crossing with exit formalities on the mainland side and entry formalities on the Kinmen side, and the queue is the part that varies. The boat does not wait.
Before you leave for the pier
- Carry the passport you booked with. The name on the ticket has to match it exactly.
- Fill in the Taiwan Arrival Card online before you travel, since this sailing enters Taiwan.
